PBeM NEWS:

Completed Tournaments:

KALTMAN CAPTURES 7 WONDERS DUEL CHAMPIONSHIP: Mike Kaltman went 8-1 over 9
rounds to claim the 2022 7 Wonders Duel PBEM championship. Mike avenged his
only loss of the tournament by defeating 2021 champion Chris Wildes in the
final game. The remaining laurelists, in order, were Chris Wildes, Steve
LeWinter, Haakon Monsen, Michael Swinson, and DJ Borton.

CAN'T STOP PBEM TITLE GOES TO WARSZAWSKI: Sixty-six players competed in the
2022 Can't Stop PBEM tournament. Aran Warszawski compiled an 8-1 record to
outlast the field in the double elimination tournament and claim the
championship. Congratulations to Aran and to all the laurelists and thank
you to everyone who participated in the event. The remaining laurelists, in
order, were Bill Masek, Grant LaDue, Dan Elkins, Haakon Monsen, and Chris
Houle.

KILFARA TOPS FIELD IN VICTORY IN THE PACIFIC PBEM: Tino Puenjer starts the
game off with a bid of 3.5 for the USN using the Menzel options. Only two
bids have ever gone higher -- and one of those is by Tino himself in this
tournament's second round! He's a proven winner with this combination. But
it's not to be. Tino was distracted during the final by traveling to
Zurich, Zug, Basel, Copenhagen, and Hamburg. As none of those are on the
Pacific map, he earned no points by doing so. From his secret island
command center in the Atlantic, Darren Kilfara's Imperial Japanese Fleet
started off strong and stayed on the offensive all the way to draw a
surrender at the end of Turn 5 with a bellringing 29-POC lead -- and a
complete perimeter minus the flag in the Marshall Islands. The Allies, on
the other hand, had just one pre-Turn 6 aircraft carrier still afloat.
Congratulations, Admiral Kilfara on winning our first all-European
Championship! In this World Cup, the United Kingdom prevails 1-0 over
Switzerland. The remaining laurelists, in order, were Tino Puenjer, Bob
Hamel, Michael Ussery, Michael Day, and Eric Anderson.

next proud owner of the BPA PBeM green jacket? If you want to play this
year, you need to email me (bdmonnin [at] nktelco.net
<mailto:bdmonnin [at] nktelco.net> ) to sign up.

Pro Golf will commence its fourteen annual BPA PBeM rendition on April 1,
2023. Once again, we shall play Augusta during April, the month of the
Masters. Round two in May we will play Muirfield Village, as the Memorial
is played then. Finally, during our third round in June, we shall play
Pebble Beach in honor of the U.S. Open.

Details can be found at http://user.nktelco.net/bdmonnin/Pro_Golf_PBeM.html
.

NEW IN 2023: I have taken away Shegeki Maruyama and Colin Montgomery this
year. A random golfer will be chosen for the five available golfers for

the first Wingspan PBeM tournament starting in April. More information on
the tournament can be found at https://bgtournament.wordpress.com/wingspan/
.

Ongoing Tournaments:

EMPIRE OF THE SUN ENTERS ROUND 4: Happy Winter of Wargaming! We're off to
a strong start in Round 4 with 1 game already. The bid spread for Round 4
was all solidly for the Allies, continuing the drift for bidding in Allied
favor as the rounds have progressed in this tournament. We'll see if the
results match expectations.

MARCH MADNESS ROUND 1 COMPLETE: All round one games are now down. All
round two games now have a deadline of March 7th or March 8th. We have 25
games completed so far (out of 71 in the event). There are four unfortunate
players who have had both of their teams eliminated from the event. There
are also 15 players who still have both teams alive. Dan Leader is our only
player currently with a team in the Sweet 16 with 16A - Pittsburgh 2009.

PATHS OF GLORY ROUND 3 UPDATE: We have 31 matches completed out of 44,
seemingly well on track to complete by mid-March. As always, the
experienced players are racking up the wins but there are definitely some
newcomers that are raising eyebrows with some convincing performances.
There are some neat tricks buried in some of the POG ACTS logs! Tournament
standings can be found at
https://www.bitterwoods.net/pog-2022-tournament-standings/ .

BPA PBeM Remember: ... all of the above PBeM fun is free to current BPA
members.

Others may qualify with a $10 Email membership in the year the event starts.

BPA members who would like to see an email tournament for their favorite
game are encouraged to step forward as the GM of such an event. BPA does not
run tournaments. Rather, we are an organization of gamers lending support to
one another so such events can happen. No one cares as much about your hobby
as you do. Get involved. See the requirements to host a BPA email tournament
