MEMBERSHIP RATES INCREASE FEBRUARY 1: The BPA annual membership drive
continues but prices will increase on February 1, 2023.  If you still want
to get the lowest rates, you must complete and submit the online application
at http://www.boardgamers.org/forms/MemberForm.shtml and submit payment via
Paypal or check.  To receive the price before it increases, the form and the
payment must be submitted before February 1 (Paypal payment sent or check
postmarked before February 1, 2023).

 

 

TRIAL EVENT & SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD VOTING ENDS JANUARY 31: The voting for the
2022 Sportsman of the Year and the 2023 Trial Events ends with the
membership price increase on February 1.  This is the last chance to
influence events to be held at WBC 2023.  Sportsmanship nominees can be

WBC 2023 CENTURY & LEGACY GM SUBMISSIONS DUE BY JANUARY 31:  Submissions of
Event Forms for WBC 2023 are now open.  Century and Legacy events are due by
January 31, 2023.  Sponsor, Vendor, and Exhibitor submissions will have a
deadline of February 28, 2023.

 

A list of the 26 events that have been submitted with the GM's names can be
found on the orphans' page at

There are only 2 weeks left to submit GM forms for WBC 2023 Century/Legacy
events.  There are currently 86 events waiting on a GM form. 

 

2023 PREREGISTRATION LIST UPDATED:  The Preregistration Page for BPA 2023
Memberships has been updated.  For the latest list of members, visit

SEVEN SPRINGS RESERVATIONS FOR WBC 2023:  Reservations are now open for
Condos and Chalets.  Reservations for Hotel rooms will open January 17, 2023
at 9:00 am.  With the Vail purchase of Seven Springs last year, this year's
reservation process has changed.  To make a reservation, call Vail Resorts
Reservations and use our group code of B7SWBC23.   Rooms and reservations
are subject to hotel availability. A minimum of a 2-night stay is required.

 

Room reservations will be available based on the following schedule:

*       Stays of 5 nights or more - Tuesday, January 17, 2023
*       Stays of 4 nights or more - Wednesday, February 15, 2023
*       Stays of 3 nights or more - Wednesday, March 15, 2023
*       Stays of 2 nights or more - Friday, April 14, 2023

Completed Tournaments:

 

HINTAKKA TOP THE PEI BROTHERS TO CAPTURE FOR THE PEOPLE CROWN:  Jukka
Hintikka defeated James Pei in the semifinals and Nick Pei in the Finals to
capture the 2022 crown.  

 

ASSANTE WINS 2022 THROUGH THE AGES PBEM:  After 46 games and 28 players,
Mike Assante captured the 2023 title in Through the Ages.  The remaining
laurelists, in order, were Allan Jiang, Randy Buehler, Galen Loram

Aran Warszawski, and Kevin Wojtaszczyk

 

AMIDON TAKES 2023 TWILIGHT STRUGGLE CHAMPIONSHIP:  David Amidon survives
triple elimination tournament to capture the 2022 Twilight Struggle top
spot.  The remaining laurelists, in order, were Roy Russo, Tony Russo, Tim
Tow, Owen Kyrollos, and Patrick Gong.

PRO GOLF TO COMMENCE ITS 14TH ANNUAL TOURNAMENT ON APRIL 1: Can you be the
next proud owner of the BPA PBeM green jacket? If you want to play this

Pro Golf will commence its fourteen annual BPA PBeM rendition on April 1,
2023.  Once again, we shall play Augusta during April, the month of the
Masters.  Round two in May we will play Muirfield Village, as the Memorial
is played then.  Finally, during our third round in June, we shall play
Pebble Beach in honor of the U.S. Open.

NEW IN 2023:  I have taken away Shegeki Maruyama and Colin Montgomery this
year.  A random golfer will be chosen for the five available golfers for
each player.  For those playing in a group, each player in the group with be
assigned a different golfer.

 

2023 SPLENDOR TOURNAMENT TO START IN FEBRUARY:  Chris Wildes will be running
the next installment of the Splendor PBeM tournament starting in February.

Ongoing Tournaments:

 

EMPIRE OF THE SUN ENTERS ROUND 4:   Happy New Year everyone! We just closed
the books on Round 3 and there were 8 Allied wins vs 7 Japanese. So far, I'm
happy to see that the balance in this scenario seems to have remained intact
even with the tweak to 17.25.D that we're playing with. As always, the

WASHINGTON'S WAR QUARTERFINALS NEARING COMPLETION:   After 4 preliminary
rounds, the top 8 have advanced to the quarterfinals.  Dave Rubin, and
Philip Burgin-Young advanced with a 4-0 record.  Joining them with 3-1
records were William Bentley, Tim Tow, George Young, Doug Green, Tom
Dworschak, and Greg Ottoman.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

BPA PBeM Remember: ... all of the above PBeM fun is free to current BPA
members. 

Others may qualify with a $10 Email membership in the year the event starts.


 

BPA members who would like to see an email tournament for their favorite
game are encouraged to step forward as the GM of such an event. BPA does not
run tournaments. Rather, we are an organization of gamers lending support to
one another so such events can happen. No one cares as much about your hobby
as you do. Get involved. See the requirements to host a BPA email tournament
