MEMBERSHIP DRIVE FOR 2025 IS NOW OPEN:  The BPA annual membership drive has
begun.  From now until January 31, 2025, get the lowest membership rates of
the year.  Junior Room Registration is also available on the Membership
Form.  Complete the membership application found at

http://boardgamers.org/forms/MemberForm.shtml to take advantage of these
rates.  To be eligible to vote for the 25 Trial Events to be held at WBC
2025 as well as the Sportsman of the year, you must join by January 31,
2025.

 

Online membership will remain open until June 15, 2025.  Price Increases
will occur on February 1, April 1, and June 15, 2025.  To receive a price
before it increases, you must submit the online membership application which
is available on the BPA website and send payment by the date listed (PayPal
payment sent or check postmarked by the 3 dates listed).

WBC 2024 SPORTSMANSHIP NOMINEES: The nine nominees, along with a description
of their effort that earned them the nomination can be found at

between now and January 31st and vote for which nominee you feel is most
deserving

WBC 2025 TRIAL EVENT BALLOT REVEALED: 25 Trial events will become part of
WBC 2025.  The selection of the 25 is determined by those individuals that
become members by January 31, 2025.  Join the BPA now to cast your vote for
up to ten events that are listed on the ballot.  A total of 49 events are on
this year's trial ballot.  The complete listing of these events can be found

WBC EVENT SUBMISSIONS NOW BEING ACCEPTED:  Event Forms for all WBC 2025
Events are now available on the event form page at

event, you must become a BPA member for 2025, complete, and email the Event
Form along with your Event Description (Word format preferred) for the
Preview Page to the Convention Director at

conventiondirector [at] boardgamers.org  by the February 15, 2025 submission
deadline.  Exhibitor, Sponsor, and  Vendor Submissions will have a deadline
of February 28, 2025.

 

Reminder: Any Game submitted (expansion's use included) on an event form
must be published and available to the public by February 28, 2025.

 

BPA SEEKS CANDIDATES FOR ITS TREASURER POSITION: The BPA Treasurer position
is a Board appointed Officer position of the organization. Our Current
Treasurer needed to resign for personal reasons. The Board is looking for a
qualified candidate from our membership to assume the responsibilities of
BPA Treasurer.

 

The major responsibilities of the position are: 

 

*       Processing Monthly Payroll
*       Filing all necessary tax forms including Annual Form 990 Tax Return,
Quarterly Payroll, Annual Payroll, W-2, 1099's, and Sales & Use Taxes.
*       Initiating payments of payroll and sales & use taxes to the IRS and
/the State of North Carolina (NC)
*       Preparing annual financials of the organization for Board approval.
*       Preparing Annual Budget for Board approval.

 

The ideal candidate would have experience in an accounting software package
for payroll processing (currently use QuickBooks), Tax filing with IRS (use
EFTPS), Social Security (W2 and 1099's) and State Tax Filings (Currently
file NC Annual Tax Return, NC Payroll Taxes, and Monthly Sales & Use Tax
electronically).

Condos/Townhouses, Chalets, and Cabins can be booked now.  Hotel

Tournaments Completed:

 

WILDES WINS 2024 7 WONDERS DUEL: Sixty-four players participated in the 2024
7 Wonders Duel PBEM tournament, a new high for the event in its fourth
iteration. After nine rounds, Chris Wildes defeated Carl Chauvin in the
final game to win his second 7 Wonders Duel PBEM championship. The remaining
laurelists were in order: Dennis Mishler, Eric Freeman, Haakon Monsen, and
Patrick Maguire. For more details visit

HEINZ CAPTURES CAN'T STOP TITLE:  Ninety-two players participated in the
2024 Can't Stop PBEM tournament. As in previous years, the event was played
with two-player games in a double-elimination format. After nine rounds,
Luke Heinz was the last player standing to claim the title. The remaining
laurelists were in order: Chris Meyer, Chris Kizer, Ken Gutermuth, Laurie

KALTMAN WINS LAS VEGAS CHAMPIONSHIP: Forty-two players completed fifty-eight
games during the 2024 Las Vegas PBEM tournament. Mike Kaltman overcame a
sizable deficit halfway through the final game to win the championship.  The
remaining laurelists were in order: Tina Del Carpio, Rob Kircher, Marc
Gibbens, Michael McKibbin, Brandon Bernard. For more details visit

NEXT FOR THE PEOPLE TO START IN JANUARY: With the 2024 For the People
wrapping up, GM Stephane Chevallier will start the 2025 For the People PBeM

MARCH MADNESS TO BEGIN IN JANUARY:  The 22nd annual BPA March Madness PBeM
tournament (2025) will start with the draft on January 20th, 2025. To sign
up to play, email GM Bruce Monnin ( <mailto:bdmonnin [at] nktelco.net>
bdmonnin [at] nktelco.net).  We annually get ~36-40 players for this event.  All
players receive two teams, so are guaranteed at least two games in the
event.  The format is single elimination until a champion is crowned,
usually in late spring. If you have played March Madness before but are
worried about using ACTS to play the game through email, we have volunteers
(usually Harry Flawd and Mark Yoshikawa) standing by ready to show you how
easily it can be done.

TWILIGHT STRUGGLE TO START IN JANUARY: Ron Jacobsen will once again be
running a Twilight Struggle tournament starting in January. The format will
be the same as previous year's Triple elimination using Playdeck app. Email
