WHITESELL AWARDED HOBBY SERVICE AWARD:   Ken Whitesell recognized as the
2023 Hobby Service Award winner for his efforts in supporting the BPA, WBC
and the hobby.  See the details that earned Ken the recognition at

BOARD OF DIRECTORS NOMINATIONS CLOSE MARCH 31: . Five Members appear on the
ballot for election to a three-year term on the BPA Board of Directors.  The
slate features two incumbents and three challengers.  The list of candidates
and their statements can be found at
http://www.boardgamers.org/about_election2017.html .  The voting for the
Board of Directors candidates is now open.  Members are encouraged to vote
on who you believe would be the best candidates on your BPA Board of
Directors.  Voting will end on June 15, 2024, and winners will be announced
at the BPA Annual Meeting on Tuesday July 23, 2024, at 3pm in the Grand
Ballroom at Seven Springs.  Voting is easy with an online ballot which can
be found at http://www.boardgamers.org/forms/BoardBallot.shtml .

 

WBC 2024 PREVIEWS POSTED:  All of the WBC Previews are now posted, 114
Century Group Events, 25 Trial Events, and 27 Sponsor/Vendor/Exhibitor

PROJECT MANGER HIRED:  The Project Manager position for the Website Request
for Proposal has been filled.  P{lease welcome Peggy Ng who will assist us
in getting the proposal sent out and vendor selected for our website
project.

 

JUNIOR EVENT GM's NEEDED:  Junior's Coordinator, Megan Byrd, is looking for
volunteers to GM our Junior event slots.   If you are interested in running

MEMBERSHIP DRIVE ENDS ON JUNE 15: The BPA annual membership drive continues
with Daily memberships now available.  Memberships that include WBC
admission ends on June 15, 2024.  WBC admissions after that date will be
on-site at WBC only.  Associate memberships allowing participation in BPA
Email Events will continue through November 20, 2024.

 

If you still want to get the lower rates before WBC, you must complete and
submit the online application at
http://www.boardgamers.org/forms/MemberForm.shtml and submit payment via
Paypal or check.  To become a member before WBC, the form and the payment
must be submitted before June 15 (Paypal payment sent or check postmarked
before June 15, 2024).

WBC 2024 SCHEDULE BEING DEVELOPED:  The Schedule for WBC 2024 is being
developed and is expected to be posted in May.

 

SEVEN SPRINGS RESERVATIONS FOR WBC 2024:  Reservations are now open for
Condos and Chalets.  Reservations for Hotel rooms for stays of 3 or more
nights are open.  Reservations for 2 nights or more will open at 9:00 am on
April 16, 2024.

of B7SWBC24.   Rooms and reservations are subject to hotel availability. A
minimum of a 2-night stay is required.  Guests may only reserve up to two

Starting Tournaments:

 

7 WONDERS DUEL TO BEGIN IN MAY: Chris Wildes will be starting a 7 Wonders
PBeM tournament in May.  The tournament will follow a double elimination
format with Swiss style pairings. The winner of the tournament will be the
last and only player with fewer than two losses. For more details on the

CASTLES OF BURGUNDY TO BEGIN IN APRIL:  Castles of Burgundy has been a
tournament at WBC since 2013, allowing players to compete in building up
their provinces with a variety of tiles while balancing a limited number of
actions with dice and risk-taking.  The tournament will be played on the
Board Game Arena online game portal and all entrants will play 4
simultaneous games for a chance to advance to further rounds. Visit

LAS VEGAS TO BEGIN IN JUNE: Chris Wildes will be starting a Las Vegas PBeM
tournament in June.  The tournament will have two rounds of four
simultaneous games followed by a single Final game. For more details on the

QUIRKY QUARKS FIRST PBEM TOURNAMENT STARTS IN MAY: Allan Jiang will be GMing
the first PBeM Quirky Quarks tournament in conjunction with its debut at WBC
2024.The goal is to introduce the game to BPA members to help prepare them
for the tournament at WBC. Registration deadline is May 15.  Sign-up and

NEXT THROUGH THE AGES TOURNAMENT BEGINS IN AUGUST:  Allan Jiang will once
again be the GM for the 2024 edition of the Through the Ages PBeM

Ongoing Tournaments:

 

FIRST ROUND COMPLETE IN BREATOUT NORMANDY:   The Tournament finished the
first round with 10 winners advancing to Round 2.   It's expected those 5
games will be wrapped up around the time of the WBC, so make sure to join
the WBC Breakout: Normandy tournament to get some face-to-face games in
before the next PBeM  round starts later this year!    To keep track of the

FOOTBALL STRATEGY PBEM HAS STARTED:  The League portion of the Football
Strategy PBeM has started with 21 coaches beginning their 10 game schedule

FIRST ROUND OF FOR THE PEOPLE CONTINUES:  Twenty Nine of the 48 First round

MARCH MADNESS PBEM FIRST ROUND GAMES COMPLETE: Three Sweet Sixteen Games are

members. 

Others may qualify with a $10 Email membership in the year the event starts.


 

BPA members who would like to see an email tournament for their favorite
game are encouraged to step forward as the GM of such an event. BPA does not
run tournaments. Rather, we are an organization of gamers lending support to
one another so such events can happen. No one cares as much about your hobby
