Sponsor, Vendor, and Exhibitor Submissions will have a deadline of February 28, 2024. Reminder: Any Game submitted (expansion's use included) on an event form must be published and available to the public by February 28, 2024. WBC EVENT REPORTS STATUS: An additional 24 WBC 2023 and 13 WBC 2022 Evet Reports have been posted. The new Reports have a posting date of 12/3/23 on them and can be found at <http://www.boardgamers.org/yearbook23/index.html> http://www.boardgamers.org/yearbook23/index.html. The 37 Event Reports still outstanding should be posted within the next two weeks. QUARTERFINAL REQUEST PROCESS CHANGED FOR HEATS: WINNERS ONLY (HWO): A new process is being implemented for WBC 2024 HWO event submissions regarding requesting a Quarterfinal (QF). The process for all other event formats remain unchanged. The new process for HWO events will allow the GM to submit a request for a quarterfinal. Provided it has either A) drawn 64 or more unique players; or B) had 25 or more unique winners. If an event meets both of these requirements, the CD will automatically approve the request. If only one of the criteria is met, the CD will review the request. The old process of requiring a HWO event to have demonstrated attendance of 128 or more unique players is no longer in effect. With this change, the event submission form now includes four additional items that are required if a QF is requested. These items are 1) Prior Year number of unique winners, 2) Historical average of Unique winners, 3) Prior Year number of double winners, and 4) Historical average of double winners. This data will assist in the approval process of a QF request. WBC EVENT PLAYER HOURS: With the announcement of the WBC 2024 Century Group, there has been much discussion on the player hour calculations for a few games. The player hour calculation was standardized using box hours for the playing time in 2018 to provide a consistent approach to player hours. Based on the discussion after the WBC 2024 Century Announcement, this calculation was revisited. The following process, reviewed by the Board, will be implemented for those GM's who feel the playing time for their event is significantly different than the box time. A GM of an event may submit a request for the playing time to be reviewed for potential change from the box time. The GM will be responsible for submitting documentation to support the requested change. The request and supporting documentation is to be sent to the Convention Director ( <mailto:conventiondirector [at] boardgamers.org> conventiondirector [at] boardgamers.org) by February 15. A decision on each request will be made by February 28. If the request is approved, it will affect WBC 2024 Laurels and WBC 2025 Century/Trial Status. BPA BOARD TENTH SEAT UPDATES PLANNED: One of the objectives of the 2023-24 BPA Board of Directors is to give the membership greater visibility into the deliberations of the board and to give insight into the things being discussed. To that end, we are planning to give a quarterly "Tenth Seat" update so that everyone has a better sense of what's going on with the BPA Board and the discussions we are undertaking for the convention. The first of these updates for 4Q23 will be posted later this month and will be posted on the BPA Newsletter page at <http://www.boardgamers.org/about_newsletters.html> http://www.boardgamers.org/about_newsletters.html.
