THREE EVENTS GRANTED LEGACY STATUS:  The Board approved three additional
legacy events starting at WBC 2024.  Congratulations to Adel Verpflichtet,
Battle Cry, and Battleline. 

 

CENTURY GROUP ANNOUNCED FOR WBC 2024: The Century Group for WBC 2024
consisting of the top 100 games from WBC 2024 as well as the Legacy Events
can be found at http://www.boardgamers.org/wbc_preparation_pelorphans.html.

 

WBC 2024 EVENT SUBMISSIONS: New Event Submission Forms will be available on
October 31 (Trial Submissions) and December 1 (Century Event Submissions) on
the WBC Event Form Page at  <http://boardgamers.org/forms/event-form.html>
http://boardgamers.org/forms/event-form.html.  Please do not use the 2023
forms, they will not be accepted due to changes that are being made to each
form.

 

Event Submissions for the WBC 2024 Trial Ballot will be accepted between
November 1, 2023, and November 25, 2023.  To submit an event for the trial
ballot, complete the Trial Ballot Event Submission Form (link will be posted
on website on October 31, 2023) and an Event Preview (preferably in word
document) and submit both via email to

Event Submissions for Century Events at WBC 2024 will be accepted between
December 4, 2023, and January 31, 2024.  To submit as GM for a Century
Event, complete the Century Event Submission Form (link will be posted on
website December 1, 2023) and an Event Preview (preferably in word document)
and submit both via email to  <mailto:conventiondirector [at] boardgamers.org>
conventiondirector [at] boardgamers.org.

 

Vendor and Sponsor event submissions will occur between February 1, 2024,
and February 28, 2024, to allow members to see the results of the trial
ballot first.  More details on the submissions for these events will be
provided in a future newsletter.

 

WBC EVENT REPORTS UPDATE: Additional 2023 and 2022 event reports posted this
week.

 

The WBC 2023 event reports will be posted in the order in which they were
received.  The remaining WBC 222 reports will be posted along with the
posting of WBC 2023.  If an event from 2022 was not run in 2023, its event
report will be posted with 2023 postings on weeks where there are less 2022
postings.  The goal is for all 2022 and 2023 reports to be completed before
the membership drive and trial voting starts later this year.

WBC HONORS:  Member nominations for GM of the Year and Sportsman of the Year
are being accepted through October 31.  To submit someone to be considered
for the award, please email the members name and the reason for the
submission to the Convention Director at conventiondirector [at] boardgamers.org
<mailto:conventiondirector [at] boardgamers.org> .  The top Nominees for the
Sportsman Award will be on the ballot  included in the 2024 initial
Membership drive starting in early December.  Nominees for the GM Award will
be presented to the Board. 

 

SEVEN SPRINGS RESERVATIONS FOR WBC 2024:  Reservations are open for Condos
and Chalets only. Hotel Room Reservations will open on Tuesday, January 17,
2024, for stays of 5 or more nights. With the Vail purchase of Seven Springs
last year, this year's reservation process has changed.  To make a

Starting Tournaments:

 

AFRIKA KORPS STARTS NEXT TOURNAMENT IN OCTOBER:  The next Afrika Korps email
tournament will be starting approximately October 2023.  The format is the
same as the previous tournaments - 3-month rounds; bid for supplies if both
players prefer the same side; all games AREA rated; single elimination.

Agricola PBeM and is accepting entrants through October 15. He expects the

BREAKOUT NORMANDY PBEM TO START IN NOVEMBER: Kevin Wojtaszczyk is accepting
registration for the next Breakout Normandy PBeM tournament through November

MARCH MADNESS TO BEGIN IN DECEMBER:  The 21st annual BPA March Madness PBeM
tournament will start with the draft on Monday, December 11th, 2023.  To
sign up to play, email GM Bruce Monnin (bdmonnin [at] nktelco.net
<mailto:bdmonnin [at] nktelco.net> ). We annually get ~40 players for this 
event.
All players receive two teams, so are guaranteed at least two games in the
event.  The format is single elimination until a champion is crowned,
usually in late spring. The teams to be drafted can be found on the team's

(http://user.nktelco.net/bdmonnin/mms-teams.htm) and the bracket can be seen

currently setup for 40 or fewer entrants.  If we have more than 40 or less
than 36, the bracket will be adjusted.

 

NAVEGADOR TO START NEXT TOURNAMENT IN DECEMBER: Navegador has been a
tournament at WBC since 2011 and has been a solid game with its rondel
mechanics and market manipulation, while players explore routes to the Far
East.   The tournament will be played on the Yucata online game portal and
all entrants will play 4 simultaneous games for a chance to advance to
further rounds. Visit

THE NAPOLEONIC WARS ANNOUNCED LAST MONTH CANCELLED: The GM has informed the
BPA that he is withdrawing from running this tournament.

 

VICTORY IN THE PACIFIC TO START IN NOVEMBER: GM John Pack is starting the
next Victory in the Pacific tournament.  Will your navy suffer or triumph at
Midway as happened in reality?  Or will you breakthrough to dominate the
Pacific?  Who will get the top half of the ocean?  And who will get the

WATERLOO TOURNAMENT BEGINS IN OCTOBER: Ed Menzel will start the next
Waterloo PBeM in October.  It will be single elimination with auction
bidding for sides.  Round lengths will be 10 weeks with the same rules as at

BPA PBeM Remember: ... all of the above PBeM fun is free to current BPA
members. 

Others may qualify with a $10 Email membership in the year the event starts.


 

BPA members who would like to see an email tournament for their favorite
game are encouraged to step forward as the GM of such an event. BPA does not
run tournaments. Rather, we are an organization of gamers lending support to
one another so such events can happen. No one cares as much about your hobby
as you do. Get involved. See the requirements to host a BPA email tournament
