Ongoing Tournaments: EMPIRE OF THE SUN ROUND 5 COMPLETE: Round 5 just ended last week and the Japanese dominated again with 5 wins to only a single allied win. This was certainly not the case in Rounds 4 and 5 with the 2018 tournament when the Allies dominated 7/2 and 4/1, respectively. Japanese play seems to have improved considerably in the intervening years. We're down to 7 players left in competition with only 1 undefeated player. If the pace of this tournament tracks with the last one we should wrap up right around this time next year. TWILIGHT STRUGGLE ENTERS ROUND 7: The field is down to 22 players, with 8 likely to be eliminated this round. The random pairing has seen a number of strong players paired up in early rounds, and some big names have already been eliminated, such as Owen Kyrollos, Chris Withers, Allan Jiang, and Randy Pippus. Currently leading the field with 0 losses is Keith Wixson. The 1-loss group includes recent WBC laurelists David Amidon, Justin Nordstrom, and Ernest Pysher, along with former WBC champion Tony Russo, former PBEM champion Aran Warszawski, and Max DuBoff.
