WBC 2022 COVID UPDATE:  Since there are other visitors to Seven Springs
while WBC is occurring, the Board of Directors looked at Seven Springs
policy as well as other factors, including member input.  Seven Springs
current Covid policy is to follow the CDC recommendations.  Therefore, the
current policy is no mask is required.  They do have signs encouraging
people who are not vaccinated to wear a mask.

 

Based on reviewing this information, the Board has decided to follow the
Seven Springs policy for WBC 2022 and not implement any additional
requirements.

 

BOARD OF DIRECTORS VOTING OPEN: Four Members appear on the ballot for
election to a three-year term on the BPA Board of Directors.  The slate
features two incumbents and two challengers.  The list of candidates and
their statement can be found at
http://www.boardgamers.org/about_election2017.html .  The voting for the
Board of Directors candidates is now opened.  Members are encouraged to vote
on who you believe would be the best candidates on your BPA Board of
Directors.  Voting will end on June 30, 2022, and winners will be announced
at the BPA Annual Meeting on Tuesday July 26, 2022, at 3pm in the Grand
Ballroom at Seven Springs.  Voting is easy with an online ballot which can

WBC 2022 CURRENT EVENT LISTING:  The list of events being run at WBC 2022

WBC 2022 SEMINAR AND DEMOS SUBMISSIONS DUE SOON:  BPA Sustaining Members or
higher may submit Demonstration Schedule Requests to provide a preview for a
newly published game or playtesting for a game design. Demonstration
schedule requests must be submitted by June 1, 2022.  The Demo form can be

BPA Sustaining Members or higher may submit Seminar Schedule Requests for
WBC and Gaming Related Topics. Seminar schedule requests must be submitted

PREREGISTRATION FOR WBC 2022 CLOSES JUNE 15:  Pre-registration for WBC 2022
will close on June 15.  In order to pre-register by then, both the
membership application, found at
http://www.boardgamers.org/forms/MemberForm.shtml , and payment must be
submitted by that date.  For payment to be submitted, checks must be
postmarked by June 15 and paypal payments must be received by June 15.

AUCTION AND AUCTION STORE NOW OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS: Submissions are now
being accepted for the 2022 WBC Auction and Auction Store. With the
cancellation of WBC 2020 and WBC 2021 due to Covid, a large interest from
sellers is expected for the Auction and Auction Store. Therefore, each
member will be limited to submissions of 25 items for the Auction and 50
items for the Auction Store.

 

Remember that space is limited so both will fill up quickly, especially the
Auction.  A reminder that the minimum number of lots for the auction and
auction store is 10.  Details on the Auction can be found at

submit your lots using the current forms which can be found at

SEVEN SPRINGS RESERVATIONS NOW OPEN FOR 2 OR MORE NIGHT STAYS: Reservations
for stays of 2 nights or more are now available at Seven Springs for WBC
2022.

 

The rate for WBC 2022 will remain at $139 per night plus applicable taxes.
King Jr. Suites will remain at $149 per night plus applicable taxes, and
Cottages and Chalets at regular published Seven Springs Rates.  Please use

TWO TOURNAMENTS COMPLETED: Paths of Glory and Diplomacy have completed but
tournament write-up is still under construction

Tournaments Starting:

 

CONCORDIA TOURNAMENT SIGNUPS THROUGH JUNE 15: The next Concordia PBeM
tournament is being hosted by Rob Flowers.  Concordia has been a tournament
at WBC since 2013 and has been a favorite with its blend of economics and
card/action management, as well as skillfully anticipating your opponents.
The tournament will be played on the Boite-a-Jeux online game portal, and
all entrants will play 4 simultaneous games for a chance to advance to
further rounds. Visit

LAS VEGAS TOURNAMENT TO START IN JUNE:  The 2nd BPA Las Vegas PBeM

Ongoing Tournaments:

 

MARCH MADNESS SWEET SIXTEEN COMPLETE:  The Sweet Sixteen games are now
complete, and two of our Final Four contestants are set. Bryan Collars (with
2A - North Carolina 2008) is our Final Four participant from Bracket A,
while Laurie Wojtaszczyk (1B - UNLV 1990) is in the Final Four from Bracket
B.  The other two Final Four teams are currently being determined.

EMPIRE OF THE SUN ENTERS 2ND ROUND:  Round 1 ended with 9 allied and 10
Japanese wins.  19 games have begun in Round 2.

 

PATHS OF GLORY 2022 IN ROUND 1:  62 Games have begun in the new Paths of
Glory tournament with 13 already completed.  131 members have signed up so
far and signups are still being accepted for late starters in Round 2 of the
Double Elimination tournament.

 

STONE AGE FINALS HAVE BEGUN: DJ Borton finished atop the standings in
semifinal round of the 2021 Stone Age PBEM tournament with three wins. Four
other players earned two wins each: Dominic Blais, Steve LeWinter, Eugene
Yee, and Ray Wolff. They are joined in the final round by repeat finalists
Haakon Monsen and Andrew Emerick. Marcy Morelli narrowly missed out on a
place in the final by .04 on tiebreakers.

 

VOYAGES OF MARCO POLO FINALS BEGIN: Peter Ran and Michael Swinson once again
led the way in the Voyages of Marco Polo semifinal with three wins each.
Joining them in this year's final are three other repeat finalists: AJ
Jiang, Connie Vogelmann, and Dominic Blais as well as Chris Wildes and
Martin van der Vlag. 

WASHINGTON War PBeM enters Round 3:  The Washington's War 2021 BPA Online
tournament has completed Round 2 and is starting Round 3.  The current
tournament leaders, all at 2 wins no losses, are:  William Bentley, Tim Tow,
George Young, Dave Rubin, Randy Pippus, Anthony Daw, Bill Peeck, Greg
Ottoman, Phillip Burgin-Young and Trevor Bender.   Thirty-Four players out
of 42 are continuing on in round 3.  During the first two rounds there were
20 American and 19 British Victories.  George Washington was captured in 5
of the 39 Games.  Round 3 is scheduled to complete in mid-July, just before
WBC.  Round 4 will be started after WBC.

 

 

BPA PBeM Remember: ... all of the above PBeM fun is free to current BPA
members. 

Others may qualify with a $10 Email membership in the year the event starts.


 

BPA members who would like to see an email tournament for their favorite
game are encouraged to step forward as the GM of such an event. BPA does not
run tournaments. Rather, we are an organization of gamers lending support to
one another so such events can happen. No one cares as much about your hobby
