Memorial is played then. Finally, during our third round in June, we

Ongoing Tournaments:

EMPIRE OF THE SUN FIRST ROUND NEARING COMPLETION: Four games remain in
Round 1. Currently there are 9 Japanese wins and 6 US wins in the first
round.

MARCH MADNESS NEARING COMPLETION OF THRID ROUND: Dan Leader (with 19A -
Cincinnati 2000) has now been joined by Laurie Wojtaszczyk (1B - UNLV 1990),
Bruce Monnin (20B - North Carolina 1998) and Bob Hamel (26B - Louisville
1983) in the Sweet Sixteen. The deadline for the Third Round Games is March
28. See the updated Bracket at
<http://user.nktelco.net/bdmonnin/mm-brack-2022.htm>
http://user.nktelco.net/bdmonnin/mm-brack-2022.htm.

PATHS OF GLORY MOVES INTO FINAL ROUND: Round #9 has concluded and after
three years, the 8th BPA POG PBeM has reached the final game. and it will
feature an undefeated Jukka H. (9-0) vs Johannes N. (8-1); the latter having
suffered one loss... inflicted by Jukka! Redemption is best sought in the
finals - I am confident that neither player will be holding back. The ACTS
log for this finals match can be found at
http://acts.warhorsesim.com/dynamic/journal.asp?id=90334. This final round
is slated to complete by June 30 but, judging by the fact that both players
are doing multiple plays a day already, they will complete way ahead of
schedule. Good luck to both and for those wanting to see what top-notch play
looks like, don't hesitate to follow along in ACTS. As always, imitation is
the sincerest form of flattery so reusing the ACTS-documented strategies of
others is anticipated but remember that the vagaries of dice and cards will
upset any well-conceived plan!

SAINT PETERSBURG FINALS UNDERWAY: Ray Wolff led the way in the semifinal
round of the Saint Petersburg tournament by winning all four of his games.
Ray has now won 7 of his 8 games in the tournament. He is joined in the
final round by Michael Swinson, Eugene Yee, AJ Jiang, Andy Latto, Marc
Gibbens, and Chris Gnech.

STONE AGE FIRST ROUND COMPLETE: The first round of the 2021 Stone Age
tournament has concluded and play has begun in the semifinal. Forty-nine
players participated in Round 1, with 17 advancing to the semifinal. Rob
Kircher and 2020 PBeM Champion Andrew Emerick led the way with 3 wins in 4
games.

TWILIGHT STRUGGLE ROUND 3 COMPLETED: The 2021-22 Twilight Struggle PBEM
tournament has completed Round 3, the first cut of the field in this Triple
Elimination contest. Last tournament's champion (and WBC champion) Owen
Kyrollos appears to be the favorite again, having put a loss on two strong
players, including former PBEM champion Ted Lyng, and already completed his
4th round without a loss. Meanwhile, all other former WBC champions in the
field (4 of them) and past PBEM winners (2) have picked up one or two
losses. But there is still plenty of play ahead, and one player without
previous AREA rating who is undefeated and already taken down two previous
laurel-winners in this tournament. Follow the action at:

https://twstourney.wordpress.com .

VICTORY IN THE PACIFIC ROUND ONE COMPLETE: The first round was very
egalitarian. Japan and the Allies each win 4 games. Four use Menzel
options while four stick with the standard adjustments. Of those games, two
of each go to Japan and two of each to the Allies. One of each bids for the
Allies. One of those bidding for the Allies wins. Two upset victories by
Jim Kramer and Eric Anderson -- and, you guessed it, as the Japanese and
Allies respectively. That makes Lord Vader (Jim) our Cinderella. Two wins
were by 2 POC or less -- one each by the Allies and Japan. Two games ended
on turn three -- one going to Japan and one to the Allies. So, if you want
to win, better go with the Allies or the Japanese! Maybe I should track the
games won by the British? Congrats to all 9 who move onward! See all the
action at https://gameaholics.com/vitp_bpa/vitp_bpa_single_elim_21.htm .

VOYAGES OF MARCO POLO ENTERS SECOND ROUND: Twenty-five players participated
in the first round of the 2021 Voyages of Marco Polo PBeM tournament. Rob
Flowers finished atop the standings, winning four games in Round 1. Chris
Wildes, Peter Ran, and 2020 PBeM champion Michael Swinson each won three
games.

BPA PBeM Reminder: ... all of the above PBeM fun is free to current BPA
members.

Others may qualify with a $10 Email membership in the year the event starts.
