NORTHEY NAMED 2024 GM OF THE YEAR: Rick Northey named GM of the Year for

BOARD OF DIRECTORS NOMINATIONS ENDS APRIL 30TH: Nominations for the 2025
Ballot end on April 30, 2025. The three incumbents are currently joined by 3
others for this year's ballot.

 

All BPA members are hereby notified of their right to nominate members for
the three Board seats whose terms expire at the next WBC. To appear on the
ballot, a member must be nominated in writing by at least three members; one
of which must be the nominee. Nominations must be signed and received at
BPA, 7766 Valley View Court, Hickory, NC 28602 no later than April 30, 2025,
to be eligible to appear on the ballot for the upcoming election (email of
pdf copy to convention director is allowed) NOTE: A Member cannot nominate
more than one member for the Board. When contemplating nominations, members
should consider that the BPA conducts most of its business by email/zoom and
needs Board members who are able and willing to offer their time and skills
to the organization in a timely manner. Besides forwarding a signed
nomination, each nominee must submit a statement not to exceed 150 words
summarizing what they can contribute in service to the Board of Directors of
the BPA by April 30, 2025. The nomination form is online at

JUNIORS PROGRAM UPDATES:  Juniors at WBC 2025 will once again receive a
T-Shirt designed by our Juniors. Register your Juniors on our registration

A Juniors Sportsmanship Award for 2024 will be awarded during our WBC 2025
BPA Annual Meeting.

 

Junior's Coordinator, Megan Byrd, is looking for volunteers to GM our Junior
event slots. If you are interested in running a Junior's event, please

WBC 2025 PREVIEWS POSTED:  All 159 previews have been posted. Previews for
WBC 2025 can be found at http://boardgamers.org/wbc25/previews-2025.html.

 

MEMBERSHIP DRIVE ENDS ON JUNE 15: The BPA annual membership drive continues
with Daily membership now available.  Memberships that include WBC admission
ends on June 15, 2025. WBC admissions after that date will be on-site at WBC
only. Associate memberships allowing participation in BPA Email Events will
continue through November 20, 2025.

 

If you still want to get the lower rates before WBC, you must complete and
submit the online application found at

WBC 2025 SEMINAR AND DEMO SUBMISSIONS FORMS NOW AVAILABLE:  BPA Sustaining
Members or higher may submit Demonstration Schedule Requests to provide a
preview for a newly published game or playtesting for a game design.
Demonstration schedule requests must be submitted by June 1, 2025. The Demo

BPA Sustaining Members or higher may submit Seminar Schedule Requests for
WBC and Gaming Related Topics. Seminar schedule requests must be submitted

SHUTTLE SCHEDULE POSTED:   The Shuttle Schedule for trips to and from
Pittsburgh International Airport and Seven Springs Mountain Resort have been
posted on the Transportation page

(http://www.boardgamers.org/wbclodging_7S.html).

 

The rate for the shuttle in 2025 will be $115. There is a discount of $25 if
the shuttle is booked 15 days in advance. With the discount, the rate is the

the shuttle.

 

SEVEN SPRINGS RESERVATIONS FOR WBC 2025:  Reservations are open for Condos,
Chalets and Hotel rooms are open.

 

To make a reservation, call Vail Resorts Reservations. Our group code must
be provided when making reservations. The code is being provided in your
membership confirmation email from the Convention Director. It is NOT
available on the website for WBC 2025. Rooms and reservations are subject to
hotel availability. A minimum of a 2-night stay is required. Guests may only
reserve up to two (2) rooms under the same name and/or credit card number.

HARRISON CAPTURES 2025 MEMOIR '44 TITLE: Joe Harrison defeated Justin Hasty
to win the 2025 Memoir '44 PBeM Tournament. Remaining laurelists, in order,
were Jon Manley, Laurent Lemaire, Frederick de Buck, and Geoff Heintzelman.

WILDES WINS NAVEGADOR CHAMPIONSHIP:  Chris Wildes outlasts 27 players to win
the 2025 Navegador championship. The remaining laurelists, in order, were
Brandon Bernard, Andrew Emerick, Rob Murray, Michale Swinson, and Ray Wolff.

MILLER  BECOMES RAIL BARON IN RALWAYS OF THE WORLD: Thirty-five players
participated in the first Railways of the World PBEM tournament. During the
six-player final on the Eastern US map, Rick Miller completed three major
lines, including a crucial connection to Chicago, to run away with the
victory by twelve points. The other top six finishers were, in order, Roger
Jarrett, Carl Chauvin, Chris Wildes, Harald Henning, Henry Allen. The event

FREEMAN DOMINATES TO CAPTURE SPLENDOR CROWN:  Sixty players competed over
124 three-player games in the 2025 Splendor PBEM tournament. Eric Freeman
won a total of eight games, including three in the final round to win the
competition. The remaining top six finishers were, in order: Zacary Morris,
Rob Murray, Haim Hochboim, Michael Swinson, and Debbie Gutermuth. Event

BYRD WINS TWILIGHT STRUGGLE TOURNAMENT:  Chris Byrd outlasted 61 other
players to capture the triple elimination Twilight Struggle Tournament. The
remaining laurelists, in order were David Amidon, Patrick Gong, Wayne
Bonnett, David Stengle, and Randy Pippus. More details can be found at

MORRIS CAPTURES UNDERWATER CITIES TITLE:  Twenty-five players participated
in the 2025 Underwater Cities PBEM tournament. In the final game, Cary
Morris built a powerful point engine out of upgraded kelp farms and tunnels
to pull off an 18 point victory. The remaining top six finishers were, in
order: Ricky Boyes, Ray Wolff, Chris Wildes, DJ Borton, and Jeff Wu. For

7 WONDERS DUEL PBEM TOURNAMENT TO START IN JUNE: Chris Wildes will be the GM
for the next 7 Wonders Duel tournament. The tournament is planning to start

LAS VEGAS TO BEGIN IN JUNE: Chris Wildes will be hosting the next

ORLEANS PBEM TOURNAMENT TO START IN MAY: Chris Wildes will be the GM for the
upcoming Orleans tournament. The tournament is scheduled to start in May.

Ongoing Tournaments:

 

MARCH MADNESS REACHES SWEET SIXTEEN:  The BPA March Madness PBeM tournament
is down to its Sweet 16. Paul Risner's 32B Villanova 1971 and Bruce Monnin's
19B Gonzaga 2018 have reached the Elite Eight, with the other six Sweet
Sixteen games still in progress. Dennis Nicholson and Jeff Mullet still have
both of their teams alive and playing.

 





 

 

 

 

 

BPA PBeM Remember: ... all of the above PBeM fun is free to current BPA
members. 

Others may qualify with a $10 Email membership in the year the event starts.


 

BPA members who would like to see an email tournament for their favorite
game are encouraged to step forward as the GM of such an event. BPA does not
run tournaments. Rather, we are an organization of gamers lending support to
one another so such events can happen. No one cares as much about your hobby
as you do. Get involved. See the requirements to host a BPA email tournament
