WBC RECAP:  Thanks to Everyone who attended WBC in 2024 and made it another
successful year.  Attendance was once again over 1,400, down about 2% from
WBC 2023.  We had over 200 first time attendees again this year.

 

WBC 2025 DATES: The Dates for WBC 2025 are July 26, 2025, to August 3, 2025.
The dates have been updated on the WBC page at
http://boardgamers.org/wbcindex.html.  Dates have also been updated on the
WBC Facebook and Consimworld pages.

 

WBC 2024 WINNERS:  A complete listing of all 166 event winners at WBC 2024
has been posted to the WBC Results page at
http://boardgamers.org/wbc_results.html.  The Individual game winners pages
for each event have also been updated.  Go to
http://boardgamers.org/winners/index.html and select a game to see the
winners for that game for each WBC and its predecessor Avaloncon.

 

WBC EVENT REPORT STATUS:  The Deadline for GM's to Submit their WBC Event
Reports is less than a week away, August 31, 2024.  Event Reports should be
sent to conventiondirector [at] boardgamers.org
<mailto:conventiondirector [at] boardgamers.org> .  The preferred format is
Microsoft Word.

 

As of August 25, Fifty-nine event reports have been received. For a list of
the events reports that have been received, visit the 2024 WBC Event Reports
page at http://www.boardgamers.org/yearbook24/index.html.

 

Posting of Event Reports will begin in September and will be posted in the
order they were received.  

 

BPA BOARD TENTH SEAT FOR 2Q24 POSTED:  The Tenth Seat for 1Q24 has been
posted  <http://www.boardgamers.org/tenthseat-2Q24.htm>
http://www.boardgamers.org/tenthseat-2Q24.htm. Future quarterly updates are
planned to be updated in the second month after the quarter ends (February,
May, August, November).

 

BPA ANNUAL MEETING & WBC AFTER ACTION MINUTES POSTED:  The Minutes from the
BPA Annual Meeting held Tuesday July 23, 2024, at WBC has been posted at

WBC HONORS:  Member nominations for GM of the Year and Sportsman of the Year
are being accepted through October 31.  To submit someone to be considered
for the awards, please email the members name and the reason for the
submission to the Convention Director at conventiondirector [at] boardgamers.org
<mailto:conventiondirector [at] boardgamers.org> .  The top Nominees for the
Sportsman Award will be on the ballot included in the 2025 initial
Membership drive starting in early December.  Nominees for the GM of the
Year Award will be presented to the Board.

Completed Tournaments:

 

12 TOURNAMENTS COMPLETED: The following PBeM tournaments have been
completed.  The results will be processed and posted in September.  The
completed tournaments are Advanced Civilization, Afrika Korps, Beyond the
Sun, Castles of Burgundy, Empire of the Sun, March Madness, Memoir '44, Pro
Golf, Saint Petersburg, Splendor, Thurn & Taxis, and Waterloo.

for the next Beyond the Sun PBeM tournament starting in October. To register

BREAKOUT NORMANDY PBEM TO START IN OCTOBER: Kevin Wojtaszczyk is accepting
registration for the next Breakout Normandy PBeM.  With the 2023's BKN
online tournament winding down, the start of the 2024 BKN online tournament
is quickly approaching.   The start of the 2024 tournament will be
mid-October and you can start signing up for it on the website.   To

FIRST RAILWAYS OF THE WORLD PBEM TO BEGIN IN SEPTEMBER: Chris Wildes will be
the GM for the BPA's first Railways of the World PBeM tournament starting in

NEXT WATERLOO TOURNAMENT TO START IN OCTOBER: Ed Menzel is accepting
entrants for the next Waterloo PBeM tournament.  Email Ed at
edmenzel [at] roadrunner.com <mailto:edmenzel [at] roadrunner.com>  to 
register. It
will be single elimination with auction bidding for sides. Round lengths
will be 10 weeks with the same rules as at WBC. Details including past

Ongoing Tournaments:

 

BREAKOUT NORMANDY ENTERS THIRD ROUND:  The Germans dominated the 2nd round
of the BKN PBEM tournament with all 5 victories.   The 3rd round has 5
players remaining with Bob Malcomson vs Jim Eliason, Kevin Hammond vs Henry
Jones and Kevin Wojtaszczyk playing as an eliminator vs RG Robinson.   Full

BPA PBeM Remember: ... all of the above PBeM fun is free to current BPA
members. 

Others may qualify with a $10 Email membership in the year the event starts.


 

BPA members who would like to see an email tournament for their favorite
game are encouraged to step forward as the GM of such an event. BPA does not
run tournaments. Rather, we are an organization of gamers lending support to
one another so such events can happen. No one cares as much about your hobby
as you do. Get involved. See the requirements to host a BPA email tournament
