WBC 2023 SCHEDULE POSTED AND PREVIEW PAGE UPDATES ARE BEGINNING: The
Spreadsheet version of the WBC 2023 Schedule has been posted on the 2023
Schedule Page at http://boardgamers.org/wbc23/schedule.html and can also be
downloaded from the Schedule Spreadsheet page at
http://www.boardgamers.org/wbc23/schedule-spreadsheet-2023.html.  Preview
Pages are now being updated and will be available on the WBC 2023 Previews
page at http://www.boardgamers.org/wbc23/previews-2023.html  when they are
posted.

 

Other versions of the Schedule (iOS/Android/Powers/Program) are being
developed and links will be posted as the development is completed.

 

AUCTION AND AUCTION STORE NOW OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS: Submissions are now
being accepted for the 2023 WBC Auction and Auction Store. With the
cancellation of WBC 2020 and WBC 2021 due to Covid, a large interest from
sellers is expected once again for the Auction and Auction Store. Therefore,
each member will be limited to submissions of 25 items for the Auction and
50 items for the Auction Store.

 

Remember that space is limited so both will fill up quickly, especially the
Auction.  A reminder that the minimum number of lots for the auction and
auction store is 10.  Details on the Auction can be found at

submit your lots using the current forms which can be found at

WBC 2023 SEMINAR AND DEMO SUBMISSIONS DUE SOON:  BPA Sustaining Members or
higher may submit Demonstration Schedule Requests to provide a preview for a
newly published game or playtesting for a game design. Demonstration
schedule requests must be submitted by May 22, 2023.  The Demo form can be

BPA Sustaining Members or higher may submit Seminar Schedule Requests for
WBC and Gaming Related Topics. Seminar schedule requests must be submitted

SHUTTLE SCHEDULE POSTED:   The Shuttle Schedule for trips to and from

BOARD OF DIRECTORS VOTING CONTINUES THROUGH JUNE 15: Twelve Members appear
on the ballot for election to a three-year term on the BPA Board of
Directors.  The slate features two incumbents and ten challengers.  The list
of candidates and their statements can be found at
http://www.boardgamers.org/about_election2017.html .  The voting for the
Board of Directors candidates is now open.  Members are encouraged to vote
on who you believe would be the best candidates on your BPA Board of
Directors.  Voting will end on June 15, 2023, and winners will be announced
at the BPA Annual Meeting on Tuesday July 25, 2023, at 3pm in the Grand
Ballroom at Seven Springs.  Voting is easy with an online ballot which can

JUNIOR EVENT GM's NEEDED:  Junior's Coordinator, Megan Byrd, is looking for
volunteers to GM our Junior event slots.   If you are interested in running

MEMBERSHIP DRIVE CONTINUES: The BPA annual membership drive continues
through June 15, 2023.  After June 15, registration for everyone except
associate memberships must be completed at WBC.  If you still want to
register at lower rates prior to WBC, you must complete and submit the
online application at http://www.boardgamers.org/forms/MemberForm.shtml and
submit payment via Paypal or check.  The form and the payment must be
submitted before June 15 (Paypal payment sent or check postmarked before
June 15, 2023).  A list of the current members as of May 12, 2023, can be

those members who have completed the membership form and submitted payment

SEVEN SPRINGS RESERVATIONS FOR WBC 2023:  Reservations are now open for
Condos, Chalets, and  Hotel rooms for 2 nights or more.  With the Vail
purchase of Seven Springs last year, this year's reservation process has

WBC 2022 EVENT REPORTS STATUS:  WBC 2022 Event Report updates are on hold as

WOLFF TAKES THE CASTLES OF BURGUNDY PBEM TITLE: Ray Wolff defeated Allan
Jiang and the field to capture the 2023 Castles of Burgundy tournament.
Other laurelists, in order, were Allan Jiang, Michael Swinson, Goran Kero,
DJ Borton, and Chris Bert.  Details on the tournament cand be found at

SWINSON WINS CONCORDIA 2023 PBEM: Michael Swinson outlasted 5 others in a 7
game final to win the Concordia Title.  Other laurelists, in order, were
Dennis Mishler, Allan Jiang, Eric Freeman, Rob Kircher, and Andrew Emerick.

FLOWERS WINS 2023 NAVEGADOR PBEM:  gm Rob Flowers conquered the field in a
close finish in the 2023 Navegador tournament.  Other laurelists, in order,
were Ian Streeb, Chris Wildes, Michael Swinson, Andrew Emerick, and Ryan

JIANG WINS 2023 RUSSIAN RAILROADS PBEM: Allan Jiang captured the title in
the 2nd Russian Railroads PBeM tournament.  Other laurelists, in order, were
Michael Swinson, Patrick Maguire, Keith Dent, Ray Wolff, and Dominic Blais.

2023 EGIZIA TOURNAMENT TO START IN JULY: Egizia has been a tournament at WBC
since 2011, now is your chance to join an online tournament of this ancient
Egyptian worker placement game.   The tournament will be played on the
Yucata online game portal and all entrants will play 4 simultaneous games
for a chance to advance to further rounds.  Visit

1ST FOOTBALL STRATEGY PBEM TO START IN SEPTEMBER:  Ken Whitesell will be
running the first Football Strategy PBeM on a site created by him.  Details

2023 LAS VEGAS TOURNAMENT TO START IN EARLY JUNE:  Chris Wildes will be
running another Las Vegas PBeM tournament starting in early June.  More

2023 THROUGH THE AGES TO BEGIN MID-LATE MAY: Newly announced WBC 2022 Consul
winner Allan Jiang will be GM's the 2023 PBeM tournament for Through the
Ages that will begin in Mid-Late May.  For more information visit the

Ongoing Tournaments:

 

EMPIRE OF THE SUN ROUND 4 COMPLETED: Round 4 just ended and the Japanese
dominated the field with 7 wins to 3 Allied wins. Two of those Allied wins
were hard fought as they both went the full distance to Turn 12 and only
surrendered to successful Allied invasions of the JP home islands.

 

MARCH MADNESS ELITE EIGHT UNDERWAY:   We have reached the Elite Eight.  Sean
McCulloch is now both our only remaining player with both teams still alive,
but also the first player to reach the Final Four with his 15B Providence
1973 squad.

 

Fighting for the other three spots in the Final Four are:  Bruno
Passacantando's 4A Florida 2011 vs Dan Leader's 16A Pittsburgh 2009; Sean
McCulloch's 19A Georgia 1983 vs David Schneider's 39A Georgia Tech 1990; and
Henry Rice's 25B St. Joseph's 2004 vs Steve Caler's 28B Butler 2011.

 

PRO GOF ROUND 1 COMPLETE: The Augusta round of the BPA Pro Golf PBeM
Tournament has concluded. All players who finished even par or better will
survive the cut and move on to the second round at Muirfield Village.  Bill
Dickerson and Dave Stiffler (both using Justin Leonard) are the leaders at 6
under par.  Just behind is Oliver Searles (with Johnny Miller) and Mark
Mitchell (with Curtis Strange), a stroke back at 5 under par.  Six other
players are currently two strokes back at 4 under par. For the scorecard for

BPA PBeM Remember: ... all of the above PBeM fun is free to current BPA
members. 

Others may qualify with a $10 Email membership in the year the event starts.


 

BPA members who would like to see an email tournament for their favorite
game are encouraged to step forward as the GM of such an event. BPA does not
run tournaments. Rather, we are an organization of gamers lending support to
one another so such events can happen. No one cares as much about your hobby
