WBC 2021 STATUS: The Board is continuing to monitor CDC Guidelines, Pennsylvania Covid restrictions, Vaccine status, and Seven Springs capacity restrictions as we still prepare for WBC 2021. The Board is in the final discussion concerning the WBC go/no go decision and a special newsletter will be sent as soon as a decision is made. BOARD OF DIRECTORS VOTING OPEN: Four Members appear on the ballot for election to a three-year term on the BPA Board of Directors. The slate features two incumbents and two challengers. The list of candidates and their statement can be found at http://www.boardgamers.org/about_election2017.html . The voting for the Board of Directors candidates is now opened. Members are encouraged to vote on who you believe would be the best candidates on your BPA Board of Directors. Voting will end on June 30, 2021 and winners will be announced at the BPA Annual Meeting on Tuesday July 27, 2021 at 3pm in the Grand Ballroom at Seven Springs. Voting is easy with an online ballot which can be found at http://www.boardgamers.org/forms/BoardBallot.shtml WBC 2021 CURRENT EVENT LISTING: There are currently 3 orphan events, Battle Cry, Saint Petersburg, and Titan the Arena. SEVEN SPRINGS RESERVATIONS NOW OPEN FOR 2 OR MORE NIGHT STAYS: Reservations for stays of 2 nights or more are now available at Seven Springs for WBC 2021. Reservations for 1 night or more are available on May 13. The rate for WBC 2021 will remain at $139 per night plus applicable taxes. King Jr. Suites will remain at $149 per night plus applicable taxes, and Cottages and Chalets at regular published Seven Springs Rates. Seven Springs will be offering the Condo, Cottage, and Chalet special once again this year where a stay of 7 consecutive nights will get the last two nights for free. PBeM NEWS: Completed Tournaments: WOLFF WINS 1ST CASTLES OF BURGUNDY PBEM TOURNAMENT: The two top 2019 WBC winners change places! Ray Wollf captures the first Castles of Burgundy PBeM tournament with defending WBC champion finishing second. The remaining laurelists, in order, were Dominic Blais, Michael Swinson, Steve LeWinter, and Robb Effinger. Eighteen players entered the tournament with a total of seventeen games played. The top six finishers were in order: Joe Beard, Richard Beyma, Kevin Brown, Marty Musella, Bert Schoose, and Gary Dickson. Tournaments Starting: BREAKOUT NORMANDY TOURNAMENT TO START IN MAY: Mark Gutfreund will be starting the next PBeM Tournament for Breakout: Normandy, #13 in the series in May. WATERLOO 2021 PBEM TO BEGIN IN MAY: GM Ed Menzel will be starting the next Waterloo PBeM tournament in May. It will be single elimination with auction bidding for sides. Ongoing Tournaments: MARCH MADNESS DOWN TO 4 PLAYERS: In bracket A, the last elite 8 game between Jared Smith and David Schneider is scheduled to end on May 7. The winner will face Kirk Harris in the Final Four. In bracket B, in a battle of UCLA teams in the Final Four, Harry Flawd's 1973 team defeated Dennis Nicholson's 1970 team to advance to the Title game. PATHS OF GLORY IN ROUND 7: Thirteen players remain in round 7 with Jukka Hintikka and Scott Burns as the two remaining undefeated players.
