Ongoing Tournaments: PATHS OF GLORY 2016 FINAL CONTINUES: Tom Gregorio and Nick Anner continue to duel it out. They are on Turn 17 and fully expect this game to go down to the bitter end. PATHS OF GLORY 2019: There is a little less than a month left in this round with 30 of 45 matches being complete. Of the 15 open matches, six of them are not on track to complete unless they pick up the pace. TWILIGHT STRUGGLE GETTING READY FOR ROUND 9: The final game of round 9 is concluding and round 10 is about to begin. It looks like the tournament will conclude with Round 11. The GM is planning on starting another Twilight Struggle PBeM tournament at the conclusion of this tournament. Watch for more details in future newsletters. WASHINGTON'S WAR QUARTERFINALS ARE UNDERWAY: The quarterfinals are under way, with two quarterfinal games finished as of now. Derek Landel's British defeated William Bentley's Americans in Game 1, James Pei's British defeated Bill Peeck's Americans in Game 3, Game 2 and 4 are still under way. The round deadline in April 17th. In the Preliminary rounds 48 players played 86 games, resulting in 38 British and 48 American Wins, 55.8% for the Americans. There were 6 games where Washington was captured, and 2 of those were still American victories, so it pays for the Americans to keep trying even if Washington is gone. It is hard to win after Washington's loss, but not impossible. In the "I could have been a contender category", I had to pair Mike Lucey vs Robert Frisby in round 4. Robert was the unlucky guy at the head of the one win two loss bracket, vs Mike in the 2-1 bracket. This was due to the uneven # of players in each bracket. The dice "qualified" Robert to play Mike. If Mike won he would have been in the top 8, but Robert stuck it out and played well and won the match. BPA PBeM Remember: ... all of the above PBeM fun is free to current BPA members. Others may qualify with a $10 Email membership in the year the event starts. All multi-day paid attendees to WBC are current BPA members for the balance of that calendar year. BPA members who would like to see an email tournament for their favorite game are encouraged to step forward as the GM of such an event. BPA does not run tournaments. Rather, we are an organization of gamers lending support to one another so such events can happen. No one cares as much about your hobby as you do. Get involved.
