DRUMMOND NAMED GM OF THE YEAR: Andrew Drummond edged out fellow Canadian
Duncan McGregor to become the 2017 GM of the Year.  Andrew ran Can't Stop

PRELIMINARY SCHEDULE POSTED: The preliminary schedule for WBC 2018 has been
posted at .  Preview pages
are being updated with the schedule and 2018 information and will be
available shortly.  As you plan your schedule, please remember that the BPA
does not provide copies of the games for use at the tournaments.  All
tournaments require participants, for both adult and junior events, to bring
a copy of the game to be guaranteed a spot.


AIRPORT SHUTTLE SCHEDULED POSTED: Additional shuttle times back to the
Airport have been added for the Monday after WBC.  For a full list of

PRE-REGISTRATION FOR WBC ENDS JUNE 15:  Pre-registration for WBC 2018 will
close on June 15.  In order to pre-register by then, both the membership
application, found at ,
and payment must be submitted by that date.  For payment to be submitted,
checks must be postmarked by June 15 and paypal payments must be received by

BOARD OF DIRECTORS VOTING ENDS JUNE 1: Voting ends June 1, 2018.  Please
vote so we can ensure we meet the minimum participation required.

Seven Members appear on the ballot for election to a three year term on the
BPA Board of Directors.  The slate features three incumbents and four
challengers.  The list of candidates and their statement can be found at .  Members are encouraged
to vote on who you believe would be the best candidates on your BPA Board of
Directors.  Voting will end on June 1, 2018 and winners will be announced at
the BPA Annual Meeting on Tuesday July 24 at 3pm in the Grand Ballroom at
Seven Springs.  Voting is easy with an online ballot which can be found at .

MARCH MADNESS PBeM UPDATE: Don Greenwood advances to the Finals.  Sean
McCulloch and Terry Coleman laying to make Final Four and face Marvin
Birnbaum in the other semifinal game.  For the bracket for this year, see 


PATHS OF GLORY PBeM UPDATE: Round 5 of Paths of Glory is well underway with
6 of the 15 matches complete.  Six players entered the round undefeated with
24 others trying to stave off elimination.  More details can be found at .


PRO GOLF PBeM UPDATE:  Round 1 of the tournament at Augusta is complete.
Round 2 is being held at Muirfield village.  First round leader Justin Rice
was at 6 under par followed by Paul Pawlak and Pete Stein, each at 5 under
par. Justin and Paul have dropped back to the pack as the completed
Muirfield at 3 over par and 4 over par respectively.  For current standings,

VICTORY IN THE PACIFIC UPDATE: The second round sees both of the top seeds
eliminated in their first games.  The tops seed prefer the IJN 6-2 -- but
the final results are dead-even with the USN winning four matches to equal
the IJN's record.  Four games use the Menzel options -- and see the USN
prevail in three.  Eight uses of now retired adjustments appear; those go
tellingly 3-1 in favor of the Japanese.  Wayne Bonnett becomes the
tournament dark horse by flipping Singapore on Turn Five to defeat Michael
Day (two-time finalist and four-time semi-finalist).  John Sharp, whose 12th
seed does not do his skill justice, sends Mike Kaye ashore; both have
collided in the Top 10 Invitational before!  Vince Meconi wins by
establishing the Full Applebaum (see

Applebaum wins an 8-turn marathon over Rob Drozd.  Tim Tow wins an
old-fashioned TKO -- by crushing the US Navy on Turn 3 so badly that it drew

SIGN-UPS FOR NEXT WATERLOO PBeM OPEN:  The Waterloo 2018-19 email tournament
will start on June 1, 2018. Contact GM Ed Menzel at edmenzel [at]
<mailto:edmenzel [at]>  to sign up. It will be single elimination
with auction bidding for sides. Rules and rule clarifications will be the
same as the last two tournaments with one exception. The Wissel brigade's
arrival will be delayed until the 18-0700 turn in accordance with the change
for this year's WBC. Round lengths will be 10 weeks. All players must be
current members of the BPA. Details including past history are available on

game are encouraged to step forward as the GM of such an event. BPA does not
run tournaments. Rather, we are an organization of gamers lending support to
one another so such events can happen. No one cares as much about your hobby
