FINAL CALL FOR BoD NOMINATIONS: All BPA members are hereby notified of their right to nominate members for the three Board seats whose terms expire at the next WBC. To appear on the ballot, a member must be nominated in writing by at least three members; one of which must be himself/herself. Nominations must be signed and received at BPA, 1541 Redfield Rd, Bel Air, MD 21015 no later than February 28th to be eligible for election in that year. When contemplating nominations, members are urged to consider that the BPA conducts most of its business by email and needs Board members who are able and willing to offer their time and skills to the organization in a timely manner. Board members should be considered more for their ability to contribute to the running of a successful company than for their attachment to any particular game or genre. Besides forwarding a signed nomination for himself/herself, each nominee should submit by March 1st a statement not to exceed 100 words summarizing what they can contribute in service to the Board of Directors of the BPA. The nomination form is on line at http://www.boardgamers.org/bpanom.htm

WBC EMPLOYMENT: Those who would like to be considered for temporary employment during WBC as Junior Room Monitors or Security staff should contact Don Greenwood at doncon99 [at] toad.net. Junior Room Monitor applicants should include references and resume pertaining to employment as teachers, counselors, daycare or other applicable work dealing with children. PBeM NEWS:

WILDERNESS WAR: A play-by-email tournament of Wilderness War, GMT's card driven wargame of the French and Indian War, will begin on March 16 utilizing ACTS. It will have a 6 round Swiss Elimination format with 12 week rounds of the Annus Mirabilis Scenario and should run for approximately 18 months.  The champ will be awarded a replica mini-tomahawk in addition to the BPA plaque. For details see the tournament website at http://mysite.verizon.net/vze4bc94/index.html. To sign up contact GM Keith Wixson at keith.wixson [at] verizon.net or keithwixson [at] paulhastings.com. The deadline to sign up is March 12.

HERE I STAND: The first BPA PBeM tournament for this game will commence in mid-April. Your Game Master will be Bryan Collars, a HIS playtester, and finalist at the 2006 Here I Stand WBC Tournament. Assistant GMs will be the designer Ed Beach and Mark Greenwood. Find the full Tournament Details at http://home.comcast.net/~ebeach/HISBPATourney2007.htm Those interested in playing should email the GM at jbcollars [at] att.net no later than April 10th and indicate experience with HIS, ACTs, and Cyberboard.

WAR AT SEA: Our 6th PBeM tournament for War at Sea gets underway March 21st.  The tournament format will be similar to the Swiss Elimination format used at WBC:  five Swiss rounds advancing the top eight scoring players to the single elimination quarter-finals. Each round will have a time limit of ten weeks. Check out the details at http://www.geocities.com/kjlshewfelt/2007_was_bpa.html. Contact GM Kevin Shewfelt at kjlshewfelt [at] aol.com

BARBAROSSA TO BERLIN: The Barbarossa to Berlin PBeM tournament has concluded with Stefan Mecay of Texas victorious over Hans Frey of Germany to emerge from a field of 50 entrants! In the semi-finals, Stefan defeated our ‘eliminator’, Mark Sundlie, while Hans defeated Tom Gregorio.  The Final only went three turns but the fighting was both furious and sportsmanlike.  An MO failure and Hitler Declaring War on the US garnered the Axis their 20th VP and an Automatic Victory. Earning laurels for third thru sixth place finishes were Tasos Tsoufis, Phillip Watkins, Tom Gregorio and Tim Tow respectively. Complete stats will be posted to www.geocities.com/ww2btb shortly.

VICTORY IN THE PACIFIC: The current BPA Victory in the Pacific PBeM tournament is down to its final three participants (from an original field of 35). The survivors? The first, third, and sixth seeds -- Dan Henry, Charles Drozd, and Darren Kilfara. Darren has the bye this round, so Dan Henry (as the Allies) faces off against Charles Drozd (as the Japanese). The Day of Infamy is here. Who will face Darren for the wood? Thanks to bidding and turn one adjustments, this tournament has seen a pretty typical split of games won by the IJN (17) vs. USN (13) with two tied games. Keep your eyes here for announcements of the new tournament to begin this September 15th!

ANZIO: The Double Elimination Anzio PBeM tournament is now in its sixth round with three survivors as Tom Oleson and Chris Harris, both unbeaten, join 4-1 Jeff Hawarden in round robin play. Check on the progress at www.bpaclassics.org

Anyone interested in running an email tournament is invited to inquire. BPA members who would like to see an email tournament for their favorite game are encouraged to step forward as the GM of such an event. BPA does not run tournaments. Rather, we are an organization of gamers lending support to one another so such events can happen. No one cares as much about your hobby as you do. Get involved. See the requirements to host a BPA email tournament at http://www.abovethefields.com/top_pbem/pbemgm.htm

All BPA PBeM tournaments require current BPA membership when the event starts. All multi-day paid attendees to WBC are current BPA members for the balance of that calendar year. Associate Calendar year memberships enabling play in all PBeM events starting in that year cost only $10. You need not keep your membership current in order to finish a PBeM event. Players may join the BPA throughout the year. Members are reminded they can upgrade their current memberships at any time by remitting the additional funds. See http://www.boardgamers.org/bpaterms.htm for details.
